Pharmaceutical Vs Cosmeceuticals Skin Care…

Have you ever been curious about knowing the exact difference between dermatological skin care vs cosmeceutical skin care? I used to ask myself the exact same question all the time until recently I completed the ZO Skin Health training course. Skin being the bodies biggest organ often ends up being neglected without the unknown long term damage caused. Here at The Derma Clinic Kent we are pleased to be offering medical grade skincare along with tailored plans following a 3D skin visage analysis scan of your face ensuring we target individual needs based on findings.

While cosmeceuticals are a happy medium between pharmaceutical skin care range, most are unaware that medical grade skin care is regulated and classed as a prescription only drug requiring it to be regulated by a governing body called the FDA. For many whom may not know what the FDA stands for, The Food and Drug Administration. Each product within medical grade skin care has to be 99% pure ingredients, unmixed and be scientifically proven to do what it states on the bottle. Since this is sold as a prescription drug, it can only be purchased through a registered medical clinic and delivered direct from manufacturers as opposed to buying from your local supermarket.

Everyday cosmetic grade products can be easily accessible via local shops, these particular products do not hold the same standard as pharmaceutical grade skin care thus ingredients can be impure and not safely tested for use making them not as effective as it states on the label. Often over the counter products are knocked out and distributed in large quantities making them far cheaper to purchase with the inability to penetrate the skin to access the deeper layer as opposed to medical grade skin care. While complexion may appear “fresher” they can not deliver the long term results desired.

A little tip from all of us here at The Derma Clinic if you were asking what can I be doing at home to help my skin, without it having to cost a fortune we’d happily tell you to wear SPF 50 on a daily basis even if its chucking it down with rain, snow or gailforst winds outside. This simple task that can be encorporated into ones daily skin care regime makes all the difference as it going to protect you against UVA, UVB and free radical exposure. This alone can help stop further ageing in its tracks!
